Event description

We invite you to participate in the 1st International Scientific and Methodological Conference "SCIENCE FOR SPORT – SPORT FOR SOCIETY", which will take place on September 23-25, 2026 at Gdańsk University of Physical Education and Sport. The conference is international and interdisciplinary - it combines sports science with the practice and perspective of public health and education.

The aim of the conference is to create space for:
  • presenting and and discussing current research results and modern methods in sports and health sciences,
  • transferring knowledge to practice – sports and health training, diagnostics, rehabilitation and education,
  • building international cooperation and networking between research centres and practitioners,
  • supporting the development of young researchers through the Young Researcher Award competition and substantive feedback from experts.

The conference will be conducted in Polish and English and will include five thematic blocks. Within each block, both basic work (mechanisms, methods, tools) and application work (implementations, protocols, solutions for practice) are welcome.

  • Sports biology and exercise medicine – we invite submissions regarding exercise physiology, regeneration and adaptation of the body, as well as injury prevention, sports rehabilitation and issues related to sports medicine. This theme also includes research on nutritional strategies supporting recovery and exercise adaptation.
  • Genetics, epigenetics and molecular foundations of exercise capacity – including works in the field of molecular biology and genetics of sport, epigenetic mechanisms of exercise response, genetic predictors of injury risk and the application of biology in the personalization of training.
  • New trends in sports training – including training methodology in team and individual sports, periodization, load control and regeneration, selection and identification of sports talents, as well as modern technologies and artificial intelligence in sports diagnostics.
  • Physical fitness and health promotion – we encourage submissions regarding physical fitness in different age groups, the relationship between competitive sport and sport for health, physical activity of children, adolescents and seniors, recreation and fitness in public health as well as diagnostic tools and fitness tests. Within this theme, we also welcome studies on nutritional and supplementation in sport and physical activity and their effects on health, performance and prevention.
  • Social and humanistic aspects of sport – including works in the field of sport psychology and motivation, education and pedagogy of physical education, sociology, history and philosophy of sport and sport as a tool for social integration.

The program expects lectures by guest speakers, oral presentations and active poster sessions – with a short presentation and moderated discussion. An expert panel devoted to the role of sport science in response to the challenges of the 21st century and a competition for young researchers (Young Researcher Award) will also be integral parts of the event.

The project is co-financed from the state budget funds granted by the Minister of Science and Higher Education within the framework of the Science Vectors Programme.
